Almost Human is an action-packed police drama set 35 years in the future, when police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids. The year is 2048. Meet John Kennex a cop who survived one of the most catastrophic attacks ever made against the police department. After waking up from a 17-month coma, he can't remember much - except that his partner was killed; his girlfriend, Anna Moore, left him after the attack; and he lost one of his legs and is now outfitted with a highly sophisticated synthetic appendage. Suffering from depression, mental atrophy, trauma-onset OCD, PTSD and the "psychological rejection of his synthetic body part," John returns to work at the behest of longtime ally Captain Sandra Maldonado. By mandate, every cop must partner with a robot. And despite his passionate aversion to androids, John is paired up with a battle-ready MX-43. But he abruptly terminates his partnership after the robot discovers incriminating information about him. So technician Rudy Lom introduces John to Dorian, a discontinued android with unexpected emotional responses. Although such responses were deemed flaws, it is in these "flaws" that John relates to Dorian most. After all, John is part-machine now, and Dorian is part-human. John and Dorian's understanding of each other not only complements them, it connects them. As he adjusts to working with his new partner, John also must learn to get along with his new colleagues, including the eager and somewhat starstruck Detective Valerie Stahl and the distrustful Detective Richard Paul, who does not welcome John back with open arms. Almost Human will follow the week-to-week missions of John and Dorian, as they fight crime across this futuristic landscape, while the mysteries surrounding his attack and the larger mythology of this new world unfold. In a not-so-distant future, a human cop and an android partner up to protect and serve. A cop buddy/team show with a great futuristic setting. I usually am not into procedural cop shows but the setting of this show was compelling enough to reel me in. Plus it is not 100% procedural, there is a main story arc that slowly develops. <br/><br/>The premise of the show is that in the future, to stop crime, police forces have recruited robots into the force. Our hero gets assigned with a model that has human like emotions. The center of the show, as you can imagine, was the human-android duo. While the show did choose the safe route instead of a more complex and difficult relationship, one of my favorite thing in the show was their conversations and how their relationship developed. <br/><br/>Due to the setting, the crimes were mostly really cool involving futuristic tech and whatnot and was always fun to see how they solve it with their own high tech instruments etc. <br/><br/>This show had lots of potential and had lots of stuff which it can go deep into but unfortunately, FOX canceled it after the first seasons (13 episodes). They really have a hate against good sci-fi shows.<br/><br/>8/10 I always like science fiction, because you can always put your imagination to work and there is no limit to it. The movie with android is not a new idea, but with enough work and effort this series should be enjoyable to kill your free time. However, as in the usual case with most of science fiction movie about the future, there is always a problem when it comes to give a picture of what the technology will look like in the future. True enough, there is no time frame being mentioned in the movie, but based on the android technology, the situation should take place not in the near future. Maybe another 50 years from now ? Given the time frame of the computer technology development for the past 10 years, it would be a bit silly to see a present technology being use in the future. We can not even find 3.5" floppy disk anymore now, but you can still find that 50 years from now people are still using memory stick ? Why not be creative and invent something else ? A good movie is not only about the story, but also how good the details being applied to the scene. With all the advance tech that are shown on the series, having a memory stick as part of the tech is really an insult to our intelligence. This little glitch should not damage the whole movie if more attention and creativity be put into work.
